Crafting

Legacy UO offers many crafting opportunities. Crafting will allow you or your friends to create items that can be of great use or personalize your character.

Alchemy:
Using the alchemy skill, you can use a mortar and pestle and reagents to make potions. Double click the mortar and pestle, have the necessary reagents in your pack, and follow the menus. You can make various potions along the lines of healing, explosions, curing poison, inflicting poison, strength boost, dexterity boost, and night sight.

Alchemy combined with tailoring gives the crafter the ability to use special dyes.

Alchemists who have read the book “Crafting Glass with Glassblowing” can turn sand into glass objects.

Blacksmithing:
As a blacksmith, you can make metal armor and weapons. You must be near an anvil and have a blacksmith tool (hammer, tongs, etc) and metal ingots in your pack. Double click the blacksmith’s tool and follow the menus. As you gain more skill, you’ll be able to make more items. At grandmaster level, your highest quality pieces may be marked with your signature.

Blacksmiths who have arms lore and magery are able to apply SDrop scrolls to GM weapons and armor to create high level magical items.

Minimum Required Skills (the higher your skill, the better your success chance):
Blacksmithing 90
Arms Lore 80
Magery 80

Carpentry:
Bowcraft has been incorporated into carpentry here on AI. Have a carpenter’s tool (saw, inshave, etc), and wood in your pack to use carpentry. Double click the tool and follow the menu. Carpenters make furniture, bows, arrows, staves, and wooden shields. At grandmaster level, make your mark on your highest quality items.

Carpenters can also make a variety of housing add-ons when the carpenter skill is combined with other skills.

Additionally, on Legacy UO carpenters can craft bookcases filled with books if they also have inscription.

After reading the Wood Engraving book (available on NPC carpenters), carpenters with inscription can purchase a square graver and use the tool to engrave chests and boxes.

Carpenters who have read the book “Making Valuables with Stonecrafting” (available from the Stonecrafter NPC in the Carpentry shop) can use a mallet and chisel to craft stone items.

Carpenters who have arms lore and magery are able to apply SDrop scrolls to GM wooden shields, staves, and bows to create high level magical items.

Minimum Required Skills (the higher your skill, the better your success chance):
Carpentry 90
Arms Lore 80
Magery 80

Inscription:
Scribes create runebooks and spell scrolls, which can either be used to cast a spell a single time or can be placed in a spellbook. A scribe needs to have blank scrolls and reagents in his backpack (and in the case of runebooks, certain spell scrolls and blank runes). Double click the scribe’s pen and follow the menu.

Scribes cannot craft a spell scroll until they already have one copy of it. They must also have enough magery to cast that spell without the aid of a scroll.

Scribes with carpentry can craft bookcases or use engraving to label chests and boxes. (See Carpentry)

Scribes with tailoring can embroider clothing or leather armor. (See Tailoring)

Scribes with tinkering can etch jewelry. (See Tinkering)

Mining:
Miners mine the raw material necessary for tinkers and blacksmith’s to practice their trade. Double click on a shovel or pickaxe in your pack or hand and target a rocky area to mine raw ore. To make the raw ore usable, you must double click the ore and target a forge, then it will turn into ingots if your skill is high enough. As your mining skill rises, you’ll mine higher grade ore.

Miners who have read the book “Mining for Quality Stone” can mine stone (the shovel or pick will have an option to mine for just ore, or for stone and ore).

Miners can mine sand after reading the book “Find Glass-Quality Sand” (available from the NPC Alchemist outside the Brit alchemy shop).

Tailoring:
As a tailor, use a sewing kit and leather or cloth to make clothing or leather armor. The higher the skill, the more items you can make. You can also mark your highest quality pieces if you are a grandmaster.

Tailoring combined with alchemy gives the crafter the ability to use special dyes.

Tailors with the inscription skill can use floss to embroider clothing after reading the book “Embroidering,” or use heavy floss to embroider leather armor after reading “Leather Embroidering.” (Both are available at the NPC tailor.)

Tailors who have arms lore and magery are able to apply SDrop scrolls to GM leather armor to create high level magical items.

Minimum Required Skills (the higher your skill, the better your success chance):

The tinker is far the crafter that makes the most varied of items. Double click a tinkers tool and then either ingots or wood as required by what you are making. Tinkers make silverware, tools for other crafters, potion kegs, and a great amount of other items of various usefulness.

Tinkers who have arms lore and magery are able to apply SDrop scrolls to GM tinkered weapons to create high level magical items.
